A Fish and Sea Centre

A Fish and Sea Centre

”Tromsø is a centre of international seafood research and development. For this reason we are now developing a local seafood arena that intends to be a showcase to the world while at the same time being a place where the local population can see, buy and eat seafood. An arena of this sort may incorporate a fish market, aquariums, seafood restaurants and exhibition areas.”
Bjørn Eirik Olsen, Director of Research,
Fiskeriforskning

This is one of the statements made during the Year of Urban Development to propel co-operation between all the  milieus connected to the fisheries and fisheries research.
An important milestone has been positioned on the urban development map of Tromsø, demonstrating that the maritime challenge has been given an appropriate response in the city’s inner harbour, which in the near future is to be developed into a site and sight of the first order.
