ON THE VENICE BIENNALE 2006
CITIES; ARCHITECTURE AND SOCIETY
The three nordic museums of architecture has invited Kiruna, Oulu and Tromsø to do common exhibition at the Venezia Biennale 2006. For the first time in the Biennale history it fully consentrates on the city under the theme:
Cities: Architecture and Society.
Richard Burdett, professor at London School of Econimics is curator for the Biennale 2006. He concentrates on 12 metacities from all over the world in the main exhibition hall - Arsenale.
50 countries participates in their own pavilions in the biennale park with different profiles related to the topic - Cities. The theme for the joint nordic exhibition is “The Nordic City” .
The Nordic exhibition take part in the beautifull pavilion designed by the architect Sverre Fehn.
The exhibition opens on 8. of september and continues until the 19. of november. The Venice Biennale will be visitided by at least 120 000 people and 3000 acredited journalist.
