OIL ECONOMY AS BUILT FORM
Tromsø is currently developing a strategy to become one of the key locations for future petroleum activities in the arctic theatre.
In the small-scale city centre projects are now being proposed which express a wish to put the centre itself on the energy map by filling in empty slots in the built-up area and by challenging urban air space.
This city block is the only existant genuine wooden house block in the city centre. Due to the Year of Urban Development the beauty and significance of this type of urban interior has been rediscovered and placed centre stage.
The questions concerning ”who owns the room of the city?” have been put on the agenda, and ”how does the new affluence express itself?” – is it in terms of shared urban arenas or simply as ”just another building.”
