THE YEAR OF CITY DEVELOPMENT – AN EXERCISE IN OPENNESS
The small city centre is a major arena for interpreting the pressures on
the city from the outside in the form of architecture, while also affording a programme for studying this type of internationally-oriented public sphere. The city core is the veritable battlefield for future interpretation. In October 2005 the exhibition Tromsø X-Files was on show in the central space of the new City
Hall. Organised around a gigantic model of the city all imagined and planned projects became fully available to the public. For first time our contemporary notions about the future Tromsø could be debated under the motto:
